Instant Training Improvement Tips: key steps in building the Moto athlete

Quite often in the health, fitness and even the sports conditioning market the true needs of incumbent are not addressed with their exercise regime. This becomes even more peculiar within the sporting world where most “train to train” and very rare for individuals to focus their efforts upon improving performance. New segments have sprung up in the training sector over the last fifteen years purely to prepare athletes to “test better” but in-fact often has little to do with performance but everything about building the “training professionals” business.

While this is certainly troublesome for athletes focused upon successful performance, as well training professionals who do follow the correct path the problem is exacerbated in sports with high injury factors. Though I do not mean to belittle an individual not realising their goals, suffering an injury due to incorrect exercise approaches is far greater concern and in more serious instances can alter the quality of the individual’s life. For those in the world of “moto” this all too true fact must be recognised and a top priority in preparation.

Injuries are a factor in every sport but within the “action” and “moto” sector they are a constant threat whether the most serious kind or the daily jarring action of life at high speed. In generalised terms there are two distinct types of injuries:

  • Collision
  • Reoccurring related to the sport

Both of these types of injuries are associated with the random aspect of the sport where machinery and tactical decisions related to course knowledge can play a heavy hand between the victory podium and a trip to the emergency room. Any notion of prevention must also come with the knowledge that an athletes confidence will push into the fine line between accomplishing the daring and tumbling off the edge. I personally know both and my many accidents in a different action sport genre kept me in full rehabilitation mode in-truth for the majority of the last decade.

The best prevention comes in the form of conditioning regime that builds a granite-solid athlete who possesses superb range of motion, intense joint and core stability and reactive instincts are trained to surgical steel precision. The latter is very important because a “moto” athlete is not merely someone “who lifts” but prepares with the purpose to excel on the track and therefore must recognise the need of acceleration, eccentric and speed strength as well very complex issues of managing “arm pump” and “compression”.
